Yu Cheng-Ta
Yu Cheng-Ta (b. 1983) is a queer video artist and performance art coordinator from Taiwan. Since 2017 he has been exploring the performativity of gender in mass media, thinking through individual/collective identity and the political function of the queer imagination in a society of mediatization. As a performance art coordinator he frequently collaborates with artists working in a variety of subcultures, such as DJs, Vogue dancers, drag queens, and BDSM performers in order to create a space between theater and party, where attendees can both view and participate in a sensorial experience.
In 2017 he presented his TAI project at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum and organized the Queen Me performance party for the Taipei Tua-Tiu-Tiann International Festival of Arts. In the same year he collaborated with Singaporean artist Ming Wong to create the work Watermelon Sisters, which in 2018 went on to screen at the Centre Georges-Pompidou as a part of the Prospectif Cinema series. In 2018 he also developed the Mulan, Make Up! project, involving lectures, workshops, parties, and other activities.

TAI (態)Project
2017
TAI is a hybrid work incorporating both performance and exhibition. It employs interaction and participation to explore the relationships among time, space and the body within the art museum.
