River Lin

River Lin is an artist whose work spans visual and performance art. His work includes live installation, choreography, durational performance, one-on-one performance, and more. His own body is his medium of choice when moving between art forms and creating a connection with viewers. “Huxian”, from the title of his work, is the name of a fox god or fox fairy in ancient Chinese legend. Huxian is known for expressing the fluidity of sexuality and eroticism, and for that reason is worshipped today by those seeking love. For his new piece Huxian Memorial Hall, River Lin recounts a brief history of the fox god and its various manifestations in popular culture, inviting the audience to reflect on this historical queer icon.

River Lin  (b. 1984, Taipei, Taiwan) now lives in Paris. His live performance works mainly appear in museum settings, such as the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the French National Dance Center, the Chicago International Performance Art Festival, the 2016 Taipei Biennial, the Rockbund Museum in Shanghai, Hong Kong’s M+ Museum, Sydney’s Festival of Live Art, and the Sydney Contemporary Art Fair, among others.
